Splendid ride and hike at Wakan and Al Ulya villages

Embark on a breathtaking journey through the enchanting villages of Wakan and Al Ulya, where nature and culture intertwine seamlessly to create an unforgettable experience.

Nestled high on the slopes of the Wadi Mistal mountains, Wakan is a picturesque village in Nakhal Wilayat, Oman, perched at an elevation of around 1,500 meters above sea level. As you ascend into the Western Hajar Mountains, just 140 kilometers from Muscat, you'll find yourself immersed in a world of terraced gardens bursting with life. Here, the orchards flourish with pomegranates, apricots, peaches, and dates, offering a feast for the senses. Visit during the magical apricot blossom season, and you'll witness the village transform into a dreamscape that attracts thousands of admirers every year. Wakan enjoys mild summers and refreshingly cold winters, making it a unique haven in Oman. A sophisticated falaj system channels water from the mountain peaks to irrigate the fields, sustaining this idyllic village.

Meanwhile, Al Ulya—situated in Ar Rawdah in the Northeastern Governorate—holds its own treasures, just waiting to be uncovered. Located roughly 80 kilometers from Muscat and about 40 kilometers from Ibra, this section of Al Ulya boasts farms so lush that they seem to radiate life itself. Beneath the shade of date palms and mango trees lie hidden marvels: serene water springs and intricate falaj systems, all contributing to the village's charm.

Together, Wakan and Al Ulya promise an adventure filled with vibrant landscapes, cultural richness, and timeless beauty. This trip will take you on an extraordinary voyage to Oman’s hidden gems!

Masirah Island, Sultanate of Oman- August, 2024

Road trip from Muscat city to Fins beach (108 kms) crowned by 60 kms mountain off roading to Plateau Salama, 1st camping spot where one should be prepared for extremely cold weather (as per Oman’s standards) as temperature dropped to 4 degrees at night.

The next challenge was to off road for 201 kms from Plateau Salama to our 2nd camping sport at Bidiya Desert situated in the middle of the Eastern Province of the Sultanate of Oman. The Eastern Sands of Oman form one of the most captivating sand deserts, an array of dunes spanning from red to brown, creating a mesmerizing landscape. Covering around 10,000 square kilometers, these sands host about 200 types of plant life. The Eastern Sands are a preferred camping destination due to their accessibility and nearby amenities. The presence of tourist camps dotting the golden sands adds to the allure, providing services in the heart of the golden sand sea.

A trip to Wadi Hawer in Sultanate of Oman

Probably one of Oman’s most beautiful wadis. Wadi Hawer is a short drive from Wahiba Sands and further upstream than Wadi Bani Khalid. Approximately 3 hours’ drive from Muscat.
This wadi offers an amazing mix of hiking, climbing, abseiling and swimming.  The overall journey is amazing as the wadi is less frequented by visitors than its down steam counterpart and boasts stunning waterfalls along with vast and vibrant blue pools of freshwater. The total journey time to reach the end point is 4-5 hours, yet it is not advisable to go without guidance or during rain seasons as floods could be surprising and dangerous.
